AI in Public Relations: A New Era of Ethical Communication Explored at National PR Day 2025 in Dehradun

Dehradun, April 21, 2025 — The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI) Dehradun Chapter hosted a compelling event on National Public Relations Day 2025, focusing on the theme “Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence in Public Relations.” The gathering brought together industry leaders, communication experts, and government representatives to discuss how AI is reshaping the PR landscape while maintaining ethical standards.

Akash Sharma Leads Conversation on AI’s Role in PR

Akash Sharma, a renowned communications strategist and active member of PRSI, delivered an insightful keynote address that resonated with the audience. He emphasized how AI could be harnessed to enhance PR practices without replacing the human touch.

“AI is a tool, not a replacement for human creativity,” Sharma stated. “It’s about using AI to make PR work faster, smarter, and more effective, while keeping human intuition at the center of communication.”

Live Demonstration of AI-Driven PR Campaigns

One of the highlights of the event was Sharma’s live demonstration of an AI-powered PR campaign. Engaging the audience in real-time, he created an entire PR campaign in just under three minutes using AI tools like ChatGPT and Canva.

The chosen theme, “Eco-Tourism in Ranikhet,” led to the creation of a campaign named “ReDiscover Ranikhet,” complete with a catchy slogan, social media posts, and a beautifully designed poster. The demonstration showcased how AI can support the creative process and significantly reduce campaign development time.

Real-World AI Applications: Uttarakhand as a Case Study

Sharma also spotlighted several successful AI-driven PR initiatives, including a digital ad campaign by the Jim Corbett Tourism Board and an NGO in Dehradun that used AI to create awareness about plastic-free living. He discussed how these AI tools helped local initiatives reach a broader audience and amplified the voices of smaller organizations.

“AI isn’t just for big corporations—it’s equally transformative for smaller groups, especially in places like Uttarakhand, where technology can give a global stage to local stories,” Sharma explained.

Ethical AI Use in Government and Grassroots Communication

The event concluded with a panel discussion, which focused on the ethical integration of AI in both government communications and grassroots-level PR efforts. Panelists stressed the importance of transparency, accountability, and maintaining human oversight in AI-driven PR practices.

Closing Thoughts on AI’s Future in PR

As the event wrapped up, Sharma left the audience with an optimistic vision of AI’s future in public relations. “When used responsibly, AI will not only enhance the efficiency of PR campaigns but also help build stronger, more meaningful connections with audiences worldwide,” he concluded.

The National PR Day event successfully highlighted the balance between embracing technological advancements and maintaining ethical standards in the evolving world of public relations.
